New ideas are the lifeblood of the technology job market. Innovation is the key to success but the technology often moves faster than the ideas can be generated and launched. Dominant Culture A case could easily be brought that America is the dominant culture, especially in English speaking countries. As the world is becoming a smaller place and news from around the world is at our fingertips either at the nearest computer or even our smartphones, it is a lot easier to become aware and even copy the culture coming from America. Ireland as a whole has always looked up to and copied in our own way the culture that comes from America. This could be because so many of our ancestors emigrated there and adapted to the culture. American television shows have been historically shown in Ireland which has increased this love we have for their culture. This coupled with the dominance of American movies in our box office has helped to secure the dominance of America as the dominant culture especially in this part of the world. With the emergence of the internet and our ability to get information on what is going to happen in our favourite television shows, this dominance h as just increased. Nowadays, we can be only days behind America in airing some of these shows. Because of this dominance of America, we are also a lot more aware of how they dress, speak and what they listen to. You only have to look at teenagers of today to see how they are influenced. Their style and music listened to is very similar to what they see on television. Conclusion Information technology has changed our world. That is not the issue. Whether it has been for the best or for the worst, is the question. We as a people have always strived to do better; after all we developed the wheel and have since travelled into space. Is continuing to create and develop better technology not part this? I believe so but not at the loss of our privacy. This is the fundamental disadvantage of using information technology in my opinion, and the one companies are striving to correct. WhatsApp announced in November 2014 that their messaging service will be encrypted end-to-end. This will assure users that even the company itself will not be able to read the message. But is our privacy sacrosanct? Should it be abandoned if we take part in criminal activity such as terrorism or even bullying? Jide earned his Bachelors of Science in Microbiology from the University of Georgia (UGA) in 2011 with high honors. He was introduced to scientific research through the CURO Honors Scholarship at UGA. Through his thesis work at UGA he earned the UGA Libraries Undergraduate Research Award, as well as the nationally coveted UNCF-Merck Research Scholarship Award. Currently, he is pursuing a MD and a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology at NYU School of Medicine. If you could describe your medical school in three adjectives, what would they be? Supportive, innovative, and evidence-driven. What's one thing that the average applicant would be surprised to learn about your medical school's curriculum? The curriculum pushes students to augment their education with either the accelerated 3-year MD or a dual degree by giving students time to pursue other interests along with medicine. What is something unique or different about the admissions interview process at your medical school? NYU's Multiple Mini Interviews have a variety of individuals including nurses, scientists, and students interviewing you. The people evaluate you have completely different perspectives. What's a tradition that you've enjoyed at your medical school that most prospective students don't know about? There are certain events (like the welcome back BBQ or Diversity week food fair) that student clubs put on that always attract a massive showing (even more than formal). There is always a ridiculous amount of food and you see people from every year, recent graduates, people on their research year, and the best time to rekindle old friendships and make new ones is while stuffing your face with free food. What's one thing you wish you'd known when you were applying to medical school? That life outside of medicine matters a lot more. This was the beginning of a marathon, not a sprint, and you shouldn't put any aspect of your life on pause until you "finish".
